Among the filling materials, feathers are the most ancient and natural. Our research and the constant updating of plant equipment and processing systems, achieve the objective of treating them perfectly, in accordance with the strict provisions of Italian and international laws.
The feathers' acquired hygiene is stabilized, without jeopardising the very properties that make them so preciously inimitable. In fact, by the time they leave our establishment they have many extra qualities. They are selected in their varieties, depulverised, sterilised and, although they burn with neither flame nor smoke by nature (i.e. are flame retardant), we can submit them to additional fireproofing treatment (FIREPROOF FEATHERS). Obviously, in order to process over 2,000 tons per annum (and when it comes to feathers that's quite a volume!), we are well equipped. We renew installations and technology so as to maintain the production standards of excellence that our
role, customer requirements and international norms impose on us.
SELECTING THE FEATHERS, BEFORE AND AFTER
We acquire feathers where the weather conditions - in Siberia for example - the species (of geese and ducks), feeding, stock farming systems and procedures for collecting from mature birds ensure the best basic quality obtainable. The assessments are guided by our acquired experience and the international supply that grants us the privilege.
The processing - totally automated - results in wadding materials that exalt the peculiarities of feather and down: lightness, softness, thermal non-conductivity, filling ability, resistance to compression and an elastic return, and long-lastingness. Laboratory tests, in-house or external, plus trials effected at our transformer clients, lead to product mix formulations, the most suitable for the performances of the manufactured articles, or end products. Upholstered furniture, bed covers and quilts, sleeping bags for camping or bivouacs, winter apparel or sportswear: they all present different requirements and call for "recipes" where feathers, plumules and precious down are knowingly proportioned.
